AppsFlyer have shipped an update for Google Ads Web2App
It looks as though the changes went out back in November last year — I only noticed now.
What changed
1. Clicks have disappeared from Web2App campaigns in Google Ads. Clicks are no longer displayed for Web2App.
As it turns out, this is now a paid feature: it has moved into the ROI360 plan, which is bought separately.
Support's answer: "Cost integration is required in order to display clicks from googleads_int".
In other words: if you want to see clicks, pay. Unpleasant, but fine, understood.
2. Web2App with PID=googleads_int has "moved" into googleadwords_int. And that already looks odd.
Support's answer: "Following recent changes, by design, clicks are no longer displayed directly under googleads_int and are instead grouped under googleadwords_int".
Translating from corporate
- it used to be logical and transparent
- now Web2App clicks are dumped into a different media source, and this is presented as by design
If the first point is simply bad news, the second looks very much like passing a bug off as a feature.
Conclusion: the changes are not especially pleasant, but they do not affect the overall picture or the decisions you make.
PS. That came out rather a gloomy post. Let me end on a brighter note: thanks to support, who explained everything in literally a couple of hours.
